Vastu Entrance Direction Guide
Choose the direction your front door faces. No compass degrees needed.
Which way does your main entrance face?
Stand just inside your main front door and look outward. Choose the direction you are facing on the compass below.
Not sure which direction?
- Open the Compass app on your phone, or use a physical compass.
- Stand at your main entrance facing outside. Hold your phone level and point its top edge the way you are facing.
- Read N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W or NW and tap that direction above.
Move away from metal doors or electrical equipment if the reading jumps around. Some phones do not have a compass sensor.
Already have a compass reading in degrees?
Optional: 0° = North, 90° = East, 180° = South and 270° = West. Smartphone compasses can be affected by nearby metal, and this tool does not correct magnetic declination.

What this tool does
Choose the direction you face when looking out from your main entrance, or enter an optional compass heading. The guide shows the associated 45° compass sector and selected traditional symbolism. Entrance direction alone cannot establish whether a house is Vastu-compliant; local building-safety standards and physical conditions matter independently.
